Our Book of Answers is a digital collection of short written responses. It does not search a library or quote a newly discovered passage from a physical book. The page-turning animation introduces a phrase selected from the site's own response lists.
What happens when you open the book
The tool first selects yes, no or maybe with chances of 40%, 40% and 20%. It then picks a phrase from that group. The phrase picker tries to avoid recent wording where the available list allows it, so a change in wording is not evidence that the book has learned more about your question.
Read a sentence in two directions
Suppose you receive “Yes, if you are honest about the cost.” You might be considering a new hobby. Read cost as money first: what would materials cost? Then read it as time: which evening would you use? You have turned a broad phrase into two concrete questions without assuming the book recommends the purchase.
- Name the possibility you are considering.
- Open the book once.
- Copy the phrase exactly into your notes.
- Write two possible interpretations, including one that challenges your preferred choice.
- Keep only the interpretation supported by your circumstances.
A page can remain just a page
Some phrases will not connect with your situation. You do not need to force an explanation, treat an ominous line as a warning or return tomorrow for permission. You can close the book and continue your day.
A reading exercise with a real book
If you enjoy the format, choose a book you already own and read a short passage. Use it as a writing prompt, then read the surrounding paragraph before attributing an idea to its author. Removing a line from its context can change its meaning. The online book's original phrases and a passage from someone else's work are different kinds of material.
